‘Harry Potter’ has been one of the biggest box office hits of recent years and many a talented performer has come out of Hollywood to capitalize on this craze. One such actor who has made a name for himself in this highly lucrative genre is Tom Felton. While on-screen talent is a different story, Tom Felton manages to bring real life into his work with memorable characters and memorable scenes. Here are some of his best roles:
‘HP – The Picnic’. As Harry Potter’s father, Filius Flitwick plays a crucial part in the lives of his son and daughter. A veteran Auror and close friend of Professor Snape, Flitwick is also found of great importance by the young wizard during his school years. This film showcases a beautiful scene between Filius and his wife Flea, played by Helena Bonham Carter.
‘HP – Prisoner of Azkaban‘. In the fifth film of the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter gets help from two very important characters when his parents are wrongly accused of the crime of murder. This is a very heartwarming moment in the saga, especially for fans who have been watching since the first book was published. Flea plays the delightful and lovable Flitwick, while Severus Snape gives us his nemesis, Lord Voldemort. This film is directed by David Yates and contains a number of familiar scenes from the previous movies.
‘HP – Heartbroken‘. Following up on the successful movie, ‘HP – The Tale of the Three Brothers’, the adventure film ‘HP – Heartbroken’ picks up where the previous film left off, as Harry, Ron and Hermione return to Hogwarts for the final battle of the series. This time around, Harry must take up the arduous task of saving the lives of his friends, whilst also stopping the death of his parents. Fantastic Mr. Hicks does a great job of recreating the atmosphere of Hogwarts, while adding some of his own character traits to the story to make it more entertaining.
‘HP – Dark Tower‘. After Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, it’s time for another adventure of this famed wizard. In the third installment of the Harry Potter series, Tom Felton returns as Moody, one of the three pure-blood wizards at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The film is directed by Mike De Luca and stars everyone from Whoopi Goldberg to Diego Luna.
‘The Empire’. The second of the Harry Potter spin-off movies sees Professor Snape takes over the position of head of Hogwarts, as Dumbledore had been killed during the previous film. Harry, who is still a student at Hogwarts, sets out to see if he can stop the bad guy, once and for all. Although Snape and his Empire of wizards do indeed rule the school, there is still a lot of politics to be played out, as the Death Eaters has become more dangerous. This is only made more complex when a fourth person, Quirrell, enters the picture.
Here Comes Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince
‘HP – Half Blood Prince‘. The second part of the third film sees the arrival of a half-blood wizard, Xanathar. Though technically not a pure-blood wizard, he was able to gain entrance into Hogwarts by way of his Unqualified Choices. The half-blood prince, due to his lack of knowledge and training, ends up causing a lot of trouble, mostly in the Battle of Hogwarts.
I’m not saying that either of these films are bad. It’s just that they were released within a very short time period. They both just didn’t have the time to develop their themes and characters properly. That being said, they are both fantastic films. Maybe they will form a franchise?
